About

The York Separate School Board opened the doors of Sacred Heart Junior High School in September 1979, providing 265 students with a Grades 7 to 9 program. Through the cooperative efforts of the Board and the Toronto Archdiocese High School Commission, Grade 11 was introduced in September 1981 and one grade was added each subsequent year. Simultaneously, a building program was undertaken and beautiful new facilities were made available to students in September 1983. The student population continued to increase and a new addition to the building was opened in May 1987.

Sacred Heart Catholic High School is a school that promotes community, responsibility, respect, and academic excellence in a safe learning environment. All students, parents, teachers, and staff have the right to be safe, and feel safe in their school community.  All members of the Sacred Heart community are to be treated with respect and dignity. Respect and responsibility are demonstrated when a student comes to school prepared; is punctual and ready to learn; shows respect for themselves, for others and for those in authority; refrains from bringing anything to school that may compromise the safety of others; follows the established rules and takes responsibility for his or her own actions.
