About
The history of Cambie Secondary School can be traced back to 1928. Henry James Cambie, after whom the school was named, was a member of the survey team that built the local railroad in 1920. It goes without saying that Cambie Secondary has one of the oldest and richest traditions of any school in Richmond. The school has served the northeast portion of Richmond well and provides excellent academic, athletic, and artistic opportunities to all. The “Palace,” as Cambie is known to many envious staff members in other Richmond schools and elsewhere, has superb facilities, modern equipment, and a wonderful staff.
Cambie is physically attached to the East Richmond Community Centre and enjoys an inclusive and diverse student community. Cambie has an outstanding reputation for both athletics and academics, with an award winning robotics club and many provincial championships in Badminton, Table Tennis and Volleyball. Cambie has a strong sense of community as well as strong and supportive school culture. Students develop great connections within the school community and feel very safe. Cambie works in partnership with the adjoining Community Center for many programs.
Cambie's mission is:
- To provide resources for the acquisition of knowledge and skills
- To promote mutual respect, self-esteem and cooperation within a diverse society
- To develop social and personal responsibility.
- To foster cultural and aesthetic awareness.
- To encourage healthy living.
- To develop an attitude which promotes lifelong learning.
- At Cambie, we are RESPECTFUL to others, RESPONSIBLE for ourselves and READY TO SUCCEED.

ACCOMMODATION (Students 13+)
Accommodation, whether arranged privately or through the Richmond International Education (RIE) homestay program, is a crucial part of the international education experience. A homestay family is the main student support outside school and is responsible for assisting the student in all aspects of their life in Canada. RIE offers an excellent, in house homestay program coordinated by RIE staff; however, students may live with families outside of the RIE homestay program provided they meet RIE homestay standards. Students can expect a range of accommodation options in the city of Richmond, from single family homes to townhouses and new condos.
