Royal Holloway enjoys an international reputation for the highest quality teaching and research across the sciences, arts and humanities. It has continued to grow in size and status, building on the excellence of scholarship and the talents of their students. Today, a combination of distinctive character, academic vision and membership of the University of London has established Royal Holloway among the top ten research-led university institutions in the country . It is renowned for having a friendly environment - home for a vibrant community of 9,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students of all ages and backgrounds and from more than 120 countries. The spacious 135 acre campus provides an impressive range of modern academic and social facilities in a parkland setting in Surrey, close to London and the UK's major communications network. Though part of the University of London, and certainly within easy reach of the capital, Royal Holloway is actually based in Egham, Surrey, giving a sense of space and calm that students at other London institutions might sometimes kill for. The campus is set in 135 acres of parkland, within walking distance of Windsor Great Park. It is dominated by the simply incredible Founder's building, a Victorian copy of the Chateau de Chambord in the Loire Valley, which really has to be seen to be believed. Its campus is considered one of the most beautiful in the world.
The university boasts a recent multi-million pound estate investment programme and a new drama complex, the Caryl Churchill Theatre. It also has a central London base at Bedford Square in Bloomsbury.
RHUL cites the development of treatments and therapies for rare diseases, the rapid decline of bees and protecting the UK's national infrastructure from cyber-attack as among its research priorities. It also lays claim to world-class experts in the arts, humanities and sciences, with many Royal Holloway academics acting as advisors to policy-makers and governments on a wide range of issues.

Bachelor Degree

Student Accommodation
· First year undergraduates who make Royal Holloway their firm choice and apply by the relevant deadline are guaranteed accommodation.
· There is a wide variety of accommodation mostly on the main campus, with some just 1 mile away; from sociable houses and modern flats to traditional bedrooms.
· Halls are located mainly on the main campus and provide either single or, as a cheaper alternative, twin bedded room accommodation; both have either en suite or shared bathroom facilities.
· All twin rooms are single gender.
· For around £30 per week you can choose to eat your meals in halls on a catered pay-as-you-go basis
· . Alternatively, you can choose self catered accommodation where you have access to a fully-equipped kitchen. You’ll need to provide your own crockery, cutlery, glasses and cooking utensils, but to make life easier they have an on-campus shop and a weekly fruit and vegetable market in the Students’ Union.
· You can rent your accommodation for the full 38 weeks of the academic year (including the Christmas and Easter holidays) or for 30 weeks (this cheaper alternative requires you to vacate your room completely during the holidays).
· Private rental accommodation If you don’t get a place in halls, or if you decide you’d rather live in private accommodation, there are plenty of options close by in Englefield Green, Egham or Virginia Water, or a few miles away in Staines or Windsor
· In the main, local accommodation is of a high standard and the cost of living compares favourably with other parts of South East England. It is certainly more aff ordable than central London and students benefit from the higher London rate of maintenance loan.
· All full-time postgraduates are welcome to apply to spend their first year living in Royal Holloway halls of residence, some of which are exclusively for postgraduates. They consider all applications, although international students are prioritised. You’ll need to apply for accommodation by the deadlines published on the website, and if you want to remain in halls after your first year, you’ll need to reapply.
· If your research involves work in London you may prefer to live in the capital. Royal Holloway has a small number of rooms for postgraduates in Intercollegiate Halls of Residence in central London, which are issued on a first-come first-served basis. The University of London Accommodation Office offers assistance to those looking for accommodation in London
· Please refer to the university website for details.
